Our regional events are critical in our growth as an organization andprovide each of our members the opportunity to hone their skillsand further develop as martial artists.
I am thus pleased to invite you to our 23rd annual REGION 9 CHAMPIONSHIP.

COSTEach admission purchased online (competitor, spectator, judge or volunteer) includes one free ticket to the hockey game at the XL Center with the Hartford Wolf Pack on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 7pm.
Tigers & Dragons: All tigers and dragons must be registered with WTSDA to compete. Please check with your instructor for membership number.$30 if registered by March 13Registration closes at 11 pm March 13Parents: Registration provides wrist band for only the child. Please be sure to purchase enough spectator tickets.
Gups and Black Belts who are competing:$65 if register by February 12

Spectators: $15 EVERYONE must register (wrist band gives admission)(Children 2 and under do not need wrist bands.)
There will be Spectator Tickets sold at the door but each will cost $20 and may not include Hockey Tickets.
Family Discount: First 2 family members who are competing - pay above competitor fees (Please register your black belt and gup family members before your tigers or dragons.)
3rd family member and over get a 15% discount. Spectator tickets still must be purchased by non-competing family members.

Volunteers and Judges No Charge this year but you MUST REGISTER to get a wrist band and so we can assign judges..

**All black belts are expected to be at both opening and closing ceremonies**

The names of all students who advanced in rank at the August 2021 and February 2022 tests will have their names posted on the Jumbotron!
New Black belts -Bring uniform top and belt you will be featured on the Jumbotron

PARKINGThe current rate per night for self-parking is $19 per car in the attached Church Street parking garage. Guests are responsible for this fee on their own.

This includes during competition.
We understand that wearing a mask and a mouth guard can make it very difficult to breath. Therefore you should be aware that face masks which attach to the head gear are also allowed instead of mouth guards. Check with your instructor for more information.
SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Region 9 Scholarship is given out once yearly to a student of any rank who submits a winning application by June 1 each year. (https://www.tsdregion9.com/region_9_scholarship_info.php)We must raise funds constantly to be able to support our deserving students as they continue with their post secondary education.

CREATIVITY - Group demonstration given by each registered school as desired. This is for those students participating in their school demo. ALL members of team must register for Championship.WEAPONS FORMS - Brown belt (4th gup) and above. Staff, Knife or Sword form competition. See allowed forms below. NO LIVE (sharp) BLADES
OPEN HAND FORMS - Check the list below for the approved forms for your rank. Tigers & Dragons may do any sequence of moves.SPARRING - Non-contact, WTSDA regulation free sparring, No contact, No punches to the head.BREAKING - Check list below for the approved breaks for your rank. Boards will be supplied. Gups - 1 board Black Belts - 2 boards using 1 or 2 stations

CANDIDATES (people who tested in February) must compete at their old rank . To receive rank on Saturday, Candidates must attend demo practice at the XL Center Friday at 8 pm.
Cho Dan Bos must wear their Cho Dan Bo uniform to compete on Saturday and to receive their rank.

If I, or any of my guests, violate any WTSDA rules, I understand we will be ejected from the event, without a refund. I agree that my performance or attendance at the Championship, or both, may be filmed or otherwise recorded or telecast live, and I consent to the use by the WTSDA, its assignees and licensees including any public news media, of my name, likeness, voice, poses, pictures and biographical form or language with or without other materials, throughout the world without limitation, for television, radio and/or theatrical motion pictures by any devices now known or hereafter devised, and I waive any compensation whatsoever in connection with the foregoing and waive all rights to any intellectual property rights which may arise therefrom. I further understand and agree that all fees paid hereunder are NONREFUNDABLE.
