Tigers & Dragons:
All tigers and dragons must be registered with WTSDA to compete. Please check with your instructor for membership number.

There will be two options for Tiger and Dragon competition
     "Traditional" -Sparring with gear, forms, and breaking with 1st - 3rd place
     "Instructional" - Belt sparring, forms and breaking where all receive the same trophy
$40 if registered by March 8
Registration closes at 11 pm March 12

Parents: Registration provides wrist band for only the child.    Please be sure to purchase enough spectator tickets.


Gups and Black Belts who are competing:
$80 if register by March 1 - EARLY REGISTRATION EXTENDED TO MARCH 9

$90 if register between March 2 and March 8
$90 if register between March 9 and March 12 


Volunteers and Judges 
No Charge this year but you MUST REGISTER so we can assign judges..


Spectators: $10
EVERYONE must register
(Except Children 2 and under do not need to register)

There will be Spectator Tickets sold at the door.


Family Discount:
First 2 family members who are competing - pay above competitor fees (Please register your black belt and gup family members before your tigers or dragons.)

3rd family member and over get a 15% discount.  Spectator tickets still must be purchased by non-competing family members.

~4:00 pm - (After all Competitions Finish) - CLOSING CEREMONY -  Rank Promotion, Championship Cup  presentation

5:30  -  AFTER PARTY - Celebrate with your karate friends with a meal in the school cafeteria
                               $20 per adult 18 & older;    $15 per child 17 & under

8:00  -  Party ends

           **All black belts are expected to be at both opening and closing ceremonies**

Once again this year we will have a Basket Raffle to support the Scholarship Fund
Each school will provide a theme based basket as in previous years.
Tickets will be sold throughout the event - Winners will be posted not announced.

CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION CATEGORIES

Individual Competition 
All competitors will be registered for all appropriate divisions. 
A student may choose not to compete  in a division on the day of the event.

WEAPONS FORMS - Brown belt (4th gup) and above. Staff, Knife or Sword form competition. See allowed forms below.    NO LIVE (sharp) BLADES.  Swords only if 16 or over.

OPEN HAND FORMS - Check the list below for the approved forms for your rank. Instructional Tigers & Dragons may do any sequence of moves.

SPARRING - Non-contact, WTSDA regulation free sparring, No contact, No punches to the head.


BREAKING      - 
Check list below for the approved breaks for your rank. Boards will be supplied.
                                   Gups - 1 board                           Black Belts - 2 boards using 1 or 2 stations

Team Competition

Rules are being finalized. Will be for teams of Black Belts only - Three age groups: 18 & over, 14-17, 13 & under

Each participating school will have teams of three students with one alternate to compete in team forms and/or team sparring.

Instructors will be in charge of registering the teams from their schools. 
Cost of registration will be $60 per registered team.

Everyone who registers to compete or help out will receive a souvenir Region 9 Challenge coin

CHAMPIONSHIP CUPS

Are awarded to the Region 9 Black Belt with the highest number of total  points received in all divisions as described in the 2022 Official Championship Rules

Will be awarded to the Male and Female Black Belt Competitor from outside Region 9 that has the highest number of total winning points.

    The cost is included with your competitor registration.
    The fee is to help with KCN Strong transportation costs if you did not compete.

  • This class is for the youth 17 and younger.
    The cost is included with a competitor registration otherwise will be $15.

    Candidates must attend demo practice on Saturday afternoon during gup competition.

    Cho Dan Bos must wear their Cho Dan Bo uniform to compete on Saturday and to receive their rank.
